Invicta, Latin for invincible, claims to deliver quality Swiss timepieces at modest prices. This is a claim that can be verified–if you shop around. Although the Invicta II Silver Dial Brown Calf Leather Men’s Watch 0765 has a retail price of $495, it’s currently selling on Amazon.com for $89.95, and I found it on several other websites for under a hundred dollars. A lot of discussion boards mention the widely-held belief that the Invicta Watch Group sets high retail prices and then immediately discounts the watches to make consumers believe they’re getting a great deal. Keep this in mind as you shop, and do not pay retail price.
This is an attractive watch. The silver watch face is set in a stainless steel case and has large, easy-to-read Roman numerals for the time display. Two smaller dials showcase day and month, but these can be a little more difficult to decipher, as the numbers are tiny. The band is brown calf leather, stamped in an alligator pattern, with cream-colored contrast stitching. The Invicta name is carved into the case in several locations.
The watch should be fairly durable, too. This is a substantial piece, with a flame-fusion crystal. Invicta claims the man-made crystal constructed by this process is just as hard to scratch as the luxury-standard sapphire crystal with less likelihood to shatter. You can also be confident if you get this one a little wet, as it’s water resistant to 330 feet.
Although the size impresses it can also be a bit cumbersome. At 13 mm thick, and 48 mm diameter, this watch is larger than many, and some reviewers thought it took a bit of time to adjust to. You should probably try on a watch with this diameter before you buy so that you can determine if it’s too much for you. Although many women wear men’s watches these days, this might not be the one for them. As it overwhelms many a man, it might not work at all for a woman. If you’d like a sporty watch in a similar price range that’s a little smaller, the attractive Tommy Hilfiger Sport Stainless Steel Red Silicone’s Men’s Watch 1790804 is only 46mm around, and it retails for $95.
Every review I read also mentioned that the manual is terrible, so it will take a little bit of time to learn how to adjust the settings for the day and date, but helpful consumers have posted the information online in many places, so I’d skip the manual and go right to Google. These watches have a reputation for quality, and most people seem to be very satisfied with them, so it’s probably worth the initial hassle.
If you shop around, you should get what the company promises. The Invicta II Silver Dial Brown Calf Leather Men’s Watch 0765 is a quality Swiss watch at a modest price, and it looks sharp, too. As long as you’re okay with the size, this should be a watch that will be accenting your wrist for years to come.
